The following is an excerpt from an interview which first appeared in the French newspaper, Adventure Et Amour: "There is something about Joan of Arc as a metaphor that really resonates with me," explains Michael Grace Jr., singer/songwriter for the pop group My Favorite whose new release Joan of Arc Awaiting Trial is the first in a series of 3 EPs which offer variations on the story of Saint Joan. "This teenager imprisoned in a room, for either a profound inspiration, or a perverse conceit, depending on your point of view. I realized that this was basically the same situation my friends and I have been in since we discovered that jeans came in black." The three EPs, which will be released about 6 months apart, do not form the beginning, middle and end of a narrative, instead the plan is to create one big middle. "There comes a time when you have to question why you're staying in, why you're not happy, what you're a martyr for, and what British band is to blame. But you only seem capable of asking the same question over and over again, like Picasso in his blue period. If we can ask the question in a way that makes you smile, or brings some kind of cold comfort, I'll consider it a triumph."
